Revathi is no stranger to Indian movies, for she has already proven what a fine actress she is in hindi, tamil, telegu and malayalam movies and is still a force to reckon with. However the fact that she no longer acts is certainly disappointing. But now she emerges in a new form as a director, in this multi-lingual film titeld MITR- my friend being made by her. But the beauty of this movie, is that it has an all female crew. Right from director to cinematography (Fowzia) to music (Bhavatharani) to editor (Bina), the entire crew is females only! And the subject of the movie ? Well the story deals with the battle of a woman in her personal wife, trying to find her true identity (more in the ASTITVA mould). The talented and beautiful Shobana plays the lead role of Lakshmi, a woman who is happily married to Prithvi (nassir abdullah) and is settled in the US. And she lives her life satisfied as a housewife taking care of her husband and daughter Divya (Preeti). But later she goes through the mid-life crisis and her marriage seems to be on the rocks and she also has to deal with her teenage daughter, and you have the usual generation gaps to deal with. Hmm....a movie with no big superstars, but you can assure that it shall be a sensitive subject dealt in the right way by director Revathi!
