With rising costs of film making over the years, and the increasing losses that the industry is incurring thanks to the popularity of cable channels, things look pretty gloomy.  But now it looks like these cable channels itself are taking an active step to bring back some sanity and hopes back.

ASIANET who experimented with a tele-film MERCARA has now decided to produce SHESHAM directed by T.K. Rajeev Kumar on a meager budget of just 60-70 lakhs. And to make things even tighter, the movie shall be reportedly shot in just under a month.

The lead man is Jayaram who plays yet another off-beat role in the movie after completing M.T. Vasudevan's THEERTHADANAM. In this he plays the role of a mental patient Lonappan, and for this role he had to crop off his hair and even lose a lot of weight.

Meera, played by Geetu Mohandas, is a film maker who is working on her new documentary where she tries to highlight the lives of mental patients. And as she goes about her work in the asylum, her eyes come upon a particular patient, Lonappan. And soon Meera begins to learn more about him and his past.

According to T.K. Rajeev Kumar this is a social movie that puts forward the big question of who is really the insane one - the one in the asylum or the people outside it.

Other names involved in the project include Lal, Biju Menon, Siddique among many others.
